Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP)

As part of the Office of Opportunity and Academic Enrichment Programs, CSTEP's mission is to increase the number of students from under- represented groups who are pursuing careers in mathematics, science, technology, health-related fields or a licensed profession.

Here are some of the ways CSTEP can help you:

• Academic and Career Advising - CSTEP provides students with intensive academic and career counseling services to better assist with choosing classes and setting career goals 
• Funding Opportunities to Attend State and National Professional Conferences - Students will have the opportunity to attend conferences that will give students exposure to a variety of academic, research and career-related workshops
• Educational Workshops - Students will have the opportunity to participate in an array of activities to further cultivate their interest in the STEM fields
• Assist in Graduate/Professional School Application Process - CSTEP offers student one- on-one graduate/professional counseling through the application process
• Internship and Research Opportunities  - This provides an opportunity for students to gain career and research experience in their chosen field of study

Students interested in in joining CSTEP must meet the following qualifications and complete the application:

CSTEP Qualifications

 In order to be admitted to CSTEP, students must:

• New York State resident
• Economically disadvantaged and/or
• In need of, or would greatly benefit from, academic enrichment or support in the STEM areas (to be determined locally)

• be pursuing a CSTEP major or a career in a CSTEP profession
• have earned a 2.50 or better cumulative grade point average. First year students can be admitted provisionally until GPA is established

• Accounting
• Biology
• Business
• Business Management/Administration (Accounting Concentration)
• Chemistry
• Criminology (Pre-Law)
• Cybersecurity
• Education (i.e. students who major in mathematics or sciences who are also enrolled in teacher education programs)
• Exercise Science
• Healthcare Management
• Human services (with a career goal of social work or other similar licensed profession)
• Information Technology
• Mathematics
• Nursing
• Psychology
• Sociology (with a career goal of social work or other similar licensed profession)
