When I first started school at the 91´«Ã½, I had no idea how different it would be from high school. It’s true when people say that even if you are used to waking up early for high school, it doesn’t transfer over to college for those 8 a.m. classes. They. Are. The. Worst! I consider myself a morning person compared to most, so that says a lot. Waking up in the morning is hard, so I personally set, no joke, 10 alarms. They are as follows: 5:45, 6:00, 6:05, 6:10, 6:15, 6:24, 6:30, 6:40, 6:45, and finally 7:00.
Typically, my day starts the same way. I get out of bed around 6:30 a.m. on a productive day, then take a shower, get dressed, and go through about three outfits before I settle on the right one. After that, I do my skincare routine, pack my bag, make my bed, and head out around 7:40 a.m.
Here's where my schedule starts to split: Tuesdays and Thursdays are my busy days since I have four back-to-back classes. I try to get to Aquinas Hall around 7:40 a.m. so I can grab a small breakfast before classes. Then, at 8:00 a.m., I have my Fundamentals of Mathematical Reasoning class, which ends around 9:25 a.m. In between classes, I talk to my friend before heading to Ethics at 9:35 a.m. in the Kaplan Center. That class usually ends early, so I head back to my dorm in Sakac Hall, since it’s close by, to drop off any extra stuff in my bag that I don’t want to carry. Then I meet up with my roommate to go to Forms of Literature together at 11:10 a.m. in Hudson Hall. My last class of the day is Digital Literacy, which starts at 12:45 p.m and finishes at 2:10 p.m., and is also in Aquinas.
At that point, I’m pretty hungry again. Since I’m near The View dining hall, I head there for the second time of the day and grab something to eat with friends who have finished classes around the same time. The View tends to have a variety of options throughout the week and often has a few events that they host with desserts or other specialty foods for holidays or such.
After all those classes, I usually have a lot of work. To get a head start on it, I head to the library and find a nice spot to do some studying. Sometimes I’ll book a study room if one happens to be open, since they have whiteboards in each one. Working in a study room helps me with certain subjects, like Calculus II.
I stay there until I’m tired of being in one place, then I head back to my dorm to relax a bit more and finish any leftover work. Once I feel like I’ve done enough for the day, I order a meal from Henry’s Courtside Cafe through the GET mobile app and either watch a show with my roommate or play some online games with friends until I feel tired enough to go to sleep.
