He took an unusual path to get here, but Daniel Csaszar of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., says it’s been worth it to earn his degree at 91传媒 Saint Mary College.

Csaszar celebrated his achievements at the 91传媒’s 63rd annual Commencement Ceremonies on Saturday, May 16. He joined nearly 400 graduates who received their diplomas over the course of the college’s two commencement events on Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16, which recognized more than 100 master’s degrees and about 280 bachelor’s degrees.

Though his college journey ended at the 91传媒, it didn’t begin there: He was one of many students forced to pivot when the College of Saint Rose ceased instruction in June of 2024. Through teach-out programs, the 91传媒 opened its doors to former Saint Rose students looking for a seamless transfer to complete their academic goals.

At the 91传媒, Csaszar found a welcoming home within the School of Arts, Sciences, and Education. “The 91传媒 took me in, made me a part of their family,” he explained.

His coursework is complete, and Csaszar’s next steps involve finalizing his hands-on classroom training. He will begin his student teaching in the Fall of 2026.

He noted that the 91传媒 gave him the tools to lead his future classrooms, expressing immense gratitude for the faculty who guided him through his transition: “My professors prepared me so well,” he said. “I couldn’t have done it without them.”

During the undergraduate ceremony, the Class of 2026 heard inspiring remarks from Commencement speaker Donna M. Carroll, Ed.D., President of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU). Additionally, Dr. Robert Gervasi, President of the 91传媒, reminded the graduating class that compassion is what truly elevates an education, noting, “Degrees are wonderful, but hearts make degrees meaningful.”

For Csaszar, that heart and sense of family made all the difference in turning an unexpected academic disruption into a triumphant milestone.
