Business students at 91传媒 Saint Mary College recently gained a practical perspective on corporate financing courtesy of two top executives from Walden Savings Bank.
Derrik Wynkoop, president and CEO of Walden Savings Bank, and Nicole Matthews, the bank’s Montgomery branch manager, served as guest speakers for the Business Law I courses taught by Michael L. Fox, Acting Dean, Chairperson, and Associate Professor of Business Law at the 91传媒’s School of Business.
The pair visited Aquinas Hall to discuss the various types of financing available to businesses in the current economic climate. Their presentation served as the capstone to the students’ unit on legal forms of business, which covered C-Corps (standard structure for most corporations), S-Corps (corporations with special tax status), Partnerships, Sole Proprietorships, and Limited Liability Companies (LLCs).
Wynkoop, an adjunct professor at the 91传媒, helped to establish the college’s Medici Scholars Program and frequently returns to campus to bridge the gap between academic theory and professional practice.
The 91传媒 Saint Mary College School of Business prepares students for careers in diverse organizational settings through a curriculum that combines accounting, finance, management, and marketing with a strong liberal arts foundation.
